We had a good summer and met quite a few times to explore science, electronics, number theory and the ways of the world. Our mentor Bruce Petersen did a fantastic job of just rolling with our questions. Although we didn't learn the answers to all of life's questions, we will never think of music without remembering our discussion of harmonics and the Fourier analysis. Wow!
In switching to RobotC, we managed to brick our brick as they say. We could see it but not talk to it, leaving it in an unusable state. It seems that previous installations of the Arduino IDE interfere with the RobotC drivers. We learned that the NXT uses the same chipset as the Arduino, so it took a fresh computer to finish the firmware download. Everything is good now, but that was unexpected.
School has started so we're taking a few weeks off to get settled. I think everyone is looking forward to the announcement of this years game.
